Rage es un grupo de Power Metal/Speed Metal originario de Alemania, originalmente llamado Avenger, conocido por tener en sus varias alineaciones a músicos de renombre en la escena del Heavy Metal y por sus recientes entregas con la colaboración de elementos orquestales, siendo una de las bandas inovadoras en el género del Heavy Metal en usar música clásica de forma importante en sus composiciones.
La historia de Rage comienza en 1984 cuando se forma Avenger. Después de la salida de su álbum debut Prayers of Steel y un EP, Avenger cambió su nombre a Rage, entregando Reign Of Fear en 1986. Su álbum de 1992 Trapped marcó el inicio de su reconocimiento internacional. El éxito se repitió en 1993 con Missing Link, seguido de cambios en la alineación. La nueva alineación graba Lingua Mortis en 1996, siendo el primer álbum con soporte de orquesta en la escena del Metal alemán. Este material fue interpretado en vivo por primera vez a finales de verano en Kufstein, Austria.
